Warnings have been issued against the scams trying to take advantage of the
devastating disaster that hit South East Asia December 26, so far claiming
87,000 lives.
One of the scam letters is from the so-called Foundation for Victims of
Earthquake, and it pretend to be an organization that collects money for the
victims of the catastrophe. However, none such organization is registered
anywhere.
In order to avoid scams, people are urged to only donate money to well known
organizations like the Red Cross, Save the Children, and Medecines Sans
Frontieres.
