When Princess Märtha was going to light the Norwegian Christmas tree at
Union station in Washington D.C. the lights were not working properly and
parts of the tree did not light up, reported the Norwegian paper VG.
Not until Kurt Nilsen entered the stage and sang «My Street» came the rest
of the lights on, and a stressed Princess Märtha and Norwegian Ambassador
Knut Vollebæk could finally relax.
«It was Kurt who saved us,» Märtha said to the paper afterwards. «I thought
he was really good. I have only seen him on TV before.»
Kurt and Märtha met after the performance, and Kurt was as usual sincere.
«I just think that she is absolutely beautiful,» Kurt said to the paper, and
added that she probably enjoyed his music. «She is a little rock ’n’ roll
too.»
